Hawthorndene Hotel se toekoms duister
“Met die genade van God sal ons ‘n plekkie moet vind as ons uitgesit word by die Hawthorndene Hotel.” So het ‘n woonstelinwoner op die hoteleiendom, Katherene Campbell Woensdag moedeloos tydens die Kaapstadse likwidateur Mohamed Patel se terreinbesoek aan die hotel in die boomryke Heatherlands in George gesê. Die hotel is al menigmaal op veilings verkoop maar omdat die hotel in ingewikkelde wetlike kwessies verstrengel is, val die transaksies kloksgewys deur die mat. Intussen is die 53 mense wat daar woon met die toestemming van Patel, bekommerd oor die vooruitsig dat hulle as die hotel wel ‘n nuwe eienaar kry, hulle ander blyplek sal moet vind.
