Duo earn synchronised place for Rio

INTERNATIONAL NEWS - Unfunded GB synchronised swimming pair Katie Clark and Olivia Federici have claimed a place for Great Britain in the 2016 Olympic duet competition.

They won Sunday's 'duet free' discipline at the final qualification event in Rio to rank second overall.

A top-four result was required to secure the place.

British Swimming and the British Olympic Association (BOA) will decide whether Team GB will take up the option of competing in the event at Rio 2016.

The BOA could decide the duet would not represent a realistic medal prospect in Rio or Tokyo 2020,
