GARDEN ROUTE NEWS—There is still time to enter the 5th edition of the Bergplaas MTB and Trail Run Challenge, which will take place on Saturday 5 April at the picturesque Libertas Guest Farm in Hoekwil.
This annual event promises an exhilarating experience for mountain biking and trail running enthusiasts, set against the stunning backdrop of Hoekwil.
Registration takes place on the day of the event between 05:30 and 07:00. The first race will start at 07:30. Athletes can choose between a 15km, 30km, 40km or 70km MTB or a 7km or 10km trail run, which makes it a race for everyone.
Bergplaas Challenge is a CSA-sanctioned event, ensuring a professional and well-organised race experience. Mountain bikers must have a current CSA membership or license; if not, a temporary say license will be required for participation.
This event is a key part of the Eden XCM League, allowing riders to compete for points in their respective categories. For those aiming for league recognition, it is essential to follow the distance allocation rules.
However, if you’re not part of the league, simply ensure you meet the minimum age requirements and enter the “open” category to enjoy the adventure at your own pace. With a variety of distances available, both amateur and professional athletes can test their endurance on diverse and scenic routes.
Whether tackling the challenging 70km MTB course or enjoying the 7km trail run, participants can expect breathtaking views, well-maintained trails, and an unforgettable outdoor experience.
Don't miss this chance to challenge yourself, embrace nature, and be part of one of the most exciting off-road races in the region!
