Local cycling fans are already thrilled that South Africa’s MTN-Qhubeka is the first team from Africa to take part in the Tour de France. And now Dimension Data is set to revolutionise the way cycling is watched and followed.
Dimension Data announced the launch of its new digital analysis platform on Tuesday which would deliver real-time information and statistics on individual riders to a live tracking website.
“The technology will allow cycling fans to follow the race in ways they’ve never been able to before,” said Dimension Data’s Executive Chairman Jeremy Ord. “The ability to follow riders, get accurate information about which riders are in a group, and see real-time speed are just some of the innovations that will be realised through this solution”.
All the data would be analysed and made available through a beta live tracking website. This would allow fans to follow their favourite riders and monitor the race on their laptop, tablet or phone.
