GEORGE NEWS - Zimbabwean-born Nesbert Shonhiwa came to George in September 2019 to play rugby, but ended up winning two bodybuilding titles instead.
Better known as Simba Booysen, the 23-year-old was recruited by Silverstars Rugby Club before the start of lockdown.
"I was playing rugby for Harare Sports Club and saw it as a great opportunity to play with the big guys. Unfortunately, my rugby dream came to a halt due to the start of the pandemic," Booysen said.
He decided to focus on something else, and took up bodybuilding earlier this year. He started prepping in July for the IFBB Southern Cape Spring Classic in Mossel Bay, which took place on 25 September, and walked away with two first places: Mr Novice and Middle Weight u.75kg.
"When I grew up, I used to look up to the Zimbabwean professional rugby union player Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira, and my goal was to be like him. That's why I decided to move here as soon as I got an opportunity. However, I believe God has shown me my dream, and I'm gonna go far with bodybuilding," said Booysen.

The next bodybuilding competition, Cape of Storms, is on 13 November at the Durbanville Auditorium, and Booysen hopes to secure sponsors to help with the travelling costs and accommodation.
