GEORGE NEWS - It has been a long rugby season for South African teams playing in the first United Rugby Championship since leaving the Super Rugby format.

Three out of the four South African teams that competed in the United Rugby Championship made it through to the quarter finals of the tournament.
The Lions ended up on the 12th spot and did not make it through to the knock out stages of the tournament. The Sharks made it through the quarter finals where they were denied a spot in the semis by the Bulls.
This past Saturday saw the final of the all new United Championship take place at Cape Town Stadium where the Bulls took on the Stormers. It was a South African affair and rugby supporters could not have asked for a better final and the match was as tight as it could be.
The Stormers ended up winning the match and taking home the champions trophy with the final score of 18 – 13.
Rugby fans will be happy to know that they do not have wait long for more rugby action as the Springboks will host Wales for three matches over July. The tour will give the newcomers to the Springboks the chance to cement their spot in the team before the Rugby Championship between SA, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand which starts in August.
The first match of the Wales tour to SA kicks off at Loftus Versfeld on 2 July, the two teams will then travel to Bloemfontein for the second match which will be taking place a week later on 9 July.
The final match of the series takes place in Cape Town on 16 July.
