GEORGE NEWS - Local chess whiz Kayleigh Cornforth has earned her place on the national stage and will be representing South Africa at the prestigious African Schools Individual Chess Championship in Kenya from 22 to 29 May.
With hard work, discipline and a passion for the game, Kayleigh, a Grade Seven learner of Holy Cross Primary School, recently received the title of women's regional master and has consistently delivered outstanding performances at local and national tournaments.
However, with the tournament fast approaching, Kayleigh and her family are appealing for sponsorship to help cover the high costs involved in travelling to Kenya and participating in the event.
Any support, no matter the amount, will go a long way in helping this promising young talent represent her country on the continental stage.
To make a contribution or offer assistance, contact Rodney Cornforth on 082 462 1633 or Louise Cornforth on 082 567 6468.
Kayleigh has to date achieved an amazing amount of awards.
