GEORGE NEWS - Three local bodybuilders gave George excellent representation at the WBBF Novice Championships in Port Elizabeth.
André Fourie (senior men up to 95kg), Johan du Toit (senior men over 95kg and Masters over 40) and Niel van der Walt (senior men up to 85kg) were all selected to represent the Eastern Province novice team at the SA Championships to be held in August this year.
André and Johan had uncontested line-ups, but Niel had to battle quite a big line-up to be crowned as winner.
All three said they enjoyed the experience immensely. André and Niel used the show as preparation for the George-Kem Classic that will be hosted by Johan at the George Civic Centre on 31 July. The show has national exposure and athletes are expected from George, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, East London and Bloemfontein.
Registration for the athletes will start at 08:00 on the Saturday and the first pre-judging show starts at 10:30. The main show will start at 17:00.
The entry fee for spectators will be R50 for the morning and evening show. There will also be a small expo inside the main hall.
The line-ups will consist of novices (first time competitors) under and over 75kg as well as seniors up to and over 70kg, 80kg and 90kg.
Females will be well represented with two line-ups.
A well-known local training facility, Advanced Body Studios’ Quinten and Mariëtte will be hosting the ladies’ bikini line-up aimed at more typical feminine beach physique.
They are well-known for their before and after training transformations.
Another exciting development is that the supplement company SSN will select a Southern Cape sponsored athlete for the first time from athletes from Stilbaai to Plettenberg Bay and Oudtshoorn for August to December.
Well-known bodybuilder and co-owner of SSN, Mario van Biljon will present a mini seminar after the pre-judging to answer questions regarding training and supplementation. He will also be a guest poser at the show.
Niel van der Walt (centre) competed in the senior men up to 85kg division.
