For most of the junior players it was a first look at the Kingswood Golf Course and their relaxed practice round would have helped them to acclimatise.
Local businessmen Peter Moolman and Terry Dimatellis played with Csilla Rozsa, a young lady from Hungary, and Samuel Schiff from Switzerland in the Fourball Alliance competition, winning by 6 Stableford points with an excellent score of 95 points.
Rosza had flown in from the USA on Saturday and she was understandably jet-lagged, but Schiff has been training at the KeNako Academy for over two weeks in preparation for the world junior tournament. Schiff has also been working with KeNako's education experts to improve his English.
The team of Roger Wessels, father Brent Hammond and his son Damian Hammond, from Swaziland, with Patrick Murray from Austria finished second. Despite being only an occasional golfer Wessels, head professional at the KeNako Academy, still managed to shoot a 67.
Murray of Austria is an interesting visitor with an Irish father and an Austrian mother. He was born in Brazil, went to school in Miami, USA, and now plays golf for Austria!
Taylormade set up a special facility on the first tee and all players were invited to hit their drives with a choice of the new range of Taylormade equipment. Taylormade kindly sponsored the winning Am-Am prizes. Representatives of the Patron of the KeNako SA World Juniors, Retief Goosen, also promoted the Goosen wine range.
The President of the World Junior Golf Series, Dr Susanna Rosswag, together with her family arrived in George on Saturday. The tournament in South Africa has become a special annual excursion for the Rosswag family and they enjoy exploring and tasting the delights of George and the surrounding areas.
The immediate past President of the WJGS and current Vice-President, Tom Burnett, arrived from the USA on Monday.

The winners of the Fourball Alliance competition at KIngswood Golf Course were, from the left, Terri Dimatellis, Samuel Schiff, Csilla Rozsa and Peter Moolman with Roger Wessels, head professional at Kenako.
