GEORGE NEWS - The Silver Town-based side Silver Stars FC failed to close the gap between them and the log leaders (Black Cats domestic team) when they drew 1-1 against Young Killers in a Geolfa League game on Saturday afternoon, 23 April, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The two goals were scored by Sinalo Sikateni of Silver Stars and Somila Klaas of Young Killers.
Silver Stars so far have played sixteen games in the Geolfa league with 12 wins, two draws and two losses, and are in second position with 37 points, while Young Killers are fighting to reach the top five.
The first half saw some excitement with both sides chasing the game. Young Killers stayed on the attack making a few attempts to score, but didn't manage to hit the net. Silver Stars also displayed impressive offensive play but had no score to show for their efforts by the end of the first half.
Silver Stars however changed the game in the second half, reaping success after consistent offensive play.
Despite Young Killers only being able to field nine players for the game, they came back and managed to score from a penalty, with Somila Klaas scoring from the second ball after his initial spot kick was blocked by Silver Stars' goalkeeper. Silver Stars goalkeeper Wandisa Nkotana played an exceptional game denying Young Killers clear chances.
