SOCCER NEWS - A goal from Enzo Qozile ensured a 1-0 victory for Tigers FC against the limping Paris United in a tough Promotional League encounter at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are currently languishing at the bottom half of the Promotional League table.
An uneventful first half saw Tigers FC employing excellent touches on the ball, supported by Asekhona Mutingwana, who was marshalling the back line.
Both sides were playing the ball on the ground. Ahlumile Mkhonto of Paris United surprised everyone with a powerful long-range strike just outside the box, but his shot hit the woodwork. The Tigers received a corner kick, but again their shot missed the target. Both teams failed to convert their clear-cut chances in the first half.
In the second half, Paris United was playing offensive football using the pace of Lithimna Bokoda to try and break through the Tigers defenders.
Tigers maintained the pressure causing Paris United to panic, and Enzo Qozile netted the first goal to put his side on the lead 1-0, courtesy of poor ball handling by the Paris United goalkeeper.
Paris United players were chasing the elusive equalising goal, but thanks to solid back line defence, Tigers managed to block all the attacks. Despite putting in their best efforts, it was not Paris United's day to obtain positive results. The match ended 1-0, Tigers FC pocketing maximum points.
