BOXING NEWS - George’s rising boxing star, Imange Thethani (17), continued her impressive run by recording two victories at the 2026 South African Female Boxing Championship in the Eastern Cape last weekend.
The SA female gold medallist and best female boxer represented the George and Eden Region at the tournament, hosted by Mdabo, Sexon Nqayimbane and Mamali Boxing Academy.
Guided by coach Nkosikho Makalima of Sobhuza Boxing Club, Thethani started her campaign on Saturday 3 October at the Mdantsane Indoor Sport Centre in East London.
She returned to action on Sunday in Queenstown’s Linge township, where she secured another victory to complete a 100% winning record.
The Grade 11 pupil at Thembalethu High School is now preparing for the Continental Boxing Championship in Mozambique in December.
Makalima said he was determined to help Thethani reach her full potential and believed she could soon turn professional with community support.
The talented boxer currently needs basic training equipment, including size 4 boxing boots, a mouth guard, wraps, training shoes and a branded tracksuit.
