SOCCER NEWS - Super City FC kept their George Local Football Association (Geolfa) Super League promotion hopes alive with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Royal Blues at Lawaaikamp Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 4 October.
With six fixtures remaining, both teams are battling for a top-two finish and promotion to the Geolfa Promotional League.
Royal Blues, coached by Mbuzo August, controlled much of the first half and built their attacks through the centre. Their pressure paid off when Asange Mngeni fired a long-range effort past Super City goalkeeper George Luzipho to give Royal Blues a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Super City, formerly known as Eastern City, returned strongly after the break and gradually took control.
Their persistence was rewarded when Luzuko Jim unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box to level the score.
City continued to press in the closing stages, and 16-year-old Milani Tshefu, a Grade 9 learner at Imizamo Yethu Secondary School, completed the comeback with the winning goal.
The victory kept Super City second on 39 points from 21 matches, while Royal Blues dropped to third on 38 points.
