SOCCER NEWS - Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Kwanele Malamba has joined former Safa Eden Regional Men’s League champions Simunye FC after signing a new contract with the Lawaaikamp-based club.
The Jonga High School Grade 12 pupil previously played for Celtics FC in the George Local Football Association Promotional League, where he developed his skills as a promising young shot-stopper.
Malamba also recently helped Jonga High School’s U19 team reach the regional eliminations of the Kay Motsepe U19 Schools Cup in Mossel Bay. Their campaign ended in a 2-1 defeat on penalties.
Malamba described his move to Simunye as one of the greatest moments of his football journey.
“I feel great to be part of such a big team in George,” he said, adding that the squad has the quality to compete for league honours.
Despite Simunye’s defeat in the Heritage Soccer Tournament final, Malamba said the team is already focused on the new league season and challenging for the title.
He also praised Simunye for giving young players opportunities to showcase their talent, saying he was looking forward to developing further and contributing to the club’s success.
