GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The youthful side from Thembalethu, Raul Stars FC, sank Thembalethu Brothers 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, 27 October, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The two goals that secured their first win in the Geolfa League after spending a few seasons in the promotional Development League, were scored in the second half.
Raul Stars players Lethu Skritshi, Lilitha Jantjies and Dwani Simamnkele launched the game with an attack, trying to break through Themba Brothers' defence. Themba Brothers received the first chance to score but failed to break the net. Raul Stars' forward, Lilitha Jantjies, scored the first goal after beautiful play from the centre of the field.
Raul Stars managed to get a free kick on the left side of the field but their powerful strike was well defended by Thembalethu Brothers. Lilitha Jantjies beat Thembalethu Brothers' left back using his pace and skills, but his solo effort was easily saved by goalkeeper Akho Nokwayi.
Themba Brothers failed to convert their chances on several occasions.
Athule Diamond scored a soft goal for Themba Brothers to make it 1-1 after Raul Stars' young goalkeeper Siphulela Mntuyedwa mishandled the ball. Lilitha Jantjies of Raul Stars missed the target after his shot, from a brilliant pass played in by Masibonisane Platjie, went wide. Lethu Skritshi scored the second goal for Raul Stars, driving a powerful strike from a set piece just outside the box.
Arosi delivered a beautiful cross inside the box and Masibonisane Platjie got the ball, but his shot went wide. Bafo Jibana of Themba Brothers drove a powerful shot but his strike was denied by the crossbar. When the whistle blew for the end of the first half the score was 2-1 for Raul Stars.
The second half started on a high note. Lethu Skritshi drove a dangerous shot just outside the box, but it went wide. Lihle Skritshi scored a beautiful third goal for Raul Stars after a clever pass played in by Qhamani Nogqala. Raul Stars launched another strong attack on the left side of the field and Dwani Simamnkele scored their fourth goal, clinching a great first victory for Raul Stars in the Geolfa League.
