GEORGE NEWS - The George Local Football Association domestic league recently kicked off in George with many teams collecting points in their opening games.
In the sweltering heat of Sunday afternoon, 4 February, Paris United thumped Raul Stars 1-0 in a Geolfa game at the Lawaaikamp Stadium with Thami Sikade scoring the goal.
The Thembalethu derby started with Raul Stars building their passes from the back line. Thabo Mtsha of Raul Stars launched the first attack, but his strike went wide. A free kick for Paris United outside the box saw Mandlenkosi Prusent playing a shot at the goal, but it was blocked by a Raul Stars defender.
The heat was taking its toll on both sides and they failed to score from their clear-cut chances, seeing no score on the board at half time.
Paris United controlled the game in the second half, using the strength of Anele Pungwana and Odwa Peterson supported by Mandlenkosi Prusent.

Siphosakhe Blayi of Paris United tried his luck, but the Raul Stars goalkeeper blocked it.
Paris United launched one driving move after another looking for opportunities to break through, succeeding when Thami Sikade scored the first goal after set play from the middle of the field.
Raul Stars worked very hard to also get a score on the board.
Paris United defended their lead with more offensive play on the flanks and Raul Stars, despite coming back into the game with full force, could not break through.

The match ended 1-0 with Paris United going home with the bragging rights after collecting maximum points.
