FOOTBALL NEWS - The Thembalethu-based side Future Stars FC resumed their George Local Football Agency (Geolfa) Promotional League fixtures on a high after the Easter break, registering two impressive victories at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
On Saturday 6 April, they were up against the struggling Tigers FC, beating them 2-0, and on Sunday afternoon, 7 April, the promising team defeated Paris United 2-0.
They dominated the game with fast-paced play, creating more chances into the box and scoring two beautiful goals.
Future Stars was formed and started by the soccer legends Zolani Makendlana and Thabiso Booysen early in 2021 with the main aim to give kids a healthy alternative for a life on the streets, which usually involve drug and alcohol abuse.
The Stars, that now have five divisions (u.13, u.15, u.17, u.19 and the senior team), are currently plying their trade in Promotional League where they are fighting their way up to gain promotion to the Domestic League.
Makendlana and Booysen told George Herald that they are pleased about the positive feedback from local stakeholders and are especially grateful for the support of the local businesses that provided the team with news tracksuits that contribute to a professional image.
