GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - Football lovers from Thembalethu attended the final of the Freedom Day Tournament which was played on Saturday 5 May at the Thembalethu Stadium. The tournament started on Friday 27 April to celebrate Freedom Day.
All Stars were the favourites of the tournament from the onset after winning the much-contested Easter Tournament, and they didn't disappoint. They played Real Lovers in the final and proved their superiority.
Both teams showed great football skills during the game, attacking strongly. All Stars scored the first goal of the match and within 33 minutes Real Lovers managed to equalise, with the first half ending 1-1.
During the second half All Stars unlocked Real Lovers' defence, forcing them to make mistakes, and were awarded a penalty, but Real Lovers' goalkeeper blocked Sibongile Tilana's kick.
Phumlani Fulani of All Stars scored the second goal for his team to end the game 2-1.
Both teams showed great football skills during the game, attacking strongly.
