GEORGE CRICKET NEWS - Juniors interested in playing cricket all year round will now get an opportunity to do so with the introduction of the exciting Last Man Standing series.
Last Man Standing was introduced for senior players in Eden last year and has been a great success. The organisers would now like to expand it to include youngsters.
They want to establish a junior league for u.12s to u.15s.
Last Man Standing is a global cricket entertainment series with over 1 285 teams competing worldwide. There are eight players to a side and the two-hour matches will be contested over 20 overs.
It is already a well-known, established franchise, playing a similar type of cricket as the current IPL league in India. The rules are very similar to T20 cricket, but with a bit of a twist, making it even more exciting. Batsmen, for instance, retire on 30 runs and only three overs are allowed per bowler.
Local players will get a chance to attend and play at the Cape Town, Johannesburg and SA open tournaments, but the biggest opportunity for South Africa's most talented players is getting to compete at the world championships.
Matches will be played at Mossel Bay Curro, with its beautiful facilities, and George Heatherlands.
Anyone interested in this all-year-round series of Last Man Standing can contact Morne Jonker on 064 504 1971.
