GEORGE CRICKET NEWS - A match-winning performance with the bat by Richardt Frenz and Franco Geldenhuys enabled George to record an important 6-wicket bonus point victory against Harlequins on Saturday.
George replied with a sturdy 125/4 after bowling Harlequins out for 124 runs.
Joshua Klue also chipped in with an unbeaten 19 runs for the winning team but it was Frenz who, after a relatively slow start, punished the Harlequins bowlers with his unbeaten 73*.
Geldenhuys was in top form with the ball and eventually bagged 5/23 with Grant Simpson (12/2) in great support.
Pioneers (131/1) kept their aspirations alive for a place in the play-offs when they defeated Ramblers (130 all out) by nine wickets. The former Zimbabwean international player Mark Vermeulen hit 78*.
Knysna Cavaliers (150 all out) also ensured that they remain in the run with a 36-runs victory against Mossel Bay (114 all out).
