SCHOOL NEWS - George High School is proud of three of its talented young cricketers who were selected for the South Western Districts (SWD) Badgers U16 teams.
Declan Arries has been named in the SWD U16 boys squad, while Millicent Steenberg and Lauren Freeks earned their places in the SWD U16 girls side. Lauren has been selected as a non-travelling player.
For Declan, playing for the SWD Badgers is nothing new. He has represented the SWD Badgers at U11, U13 and U15 level. At the 2026 SWD Cricket Awards, he was awarded as the top run-scorer in both the U15 and U19 promotion leagues.
At just 13 years old, Declan scored an impressive 182 runs in an U19 match.
He has played adult cricket since the age of 11 for Rosemoor Hub and Pacaltsdorp Cricket Club. He was also selected to participate in Outeniqua High School's cricket festival and will be playing cricket in England in June and July next year.

She is due to play at the provincial level, as she has been selected for the SWD Badgers U16 girls' team touring Pretoria from 9 to 12 December.
