ATHLETICS NEWS - A 24-member preliminary national team has been announced by Athletics South Africa for the
2019 IAAF World Championships to be held in Aarhus, Denmark on March 30.
Seven athletes have been selected in the provisional squad for the senior men's 10km race, including national champion Precious Mashele, while the five-member senior women's contingent features the likes of SA champion Glenrose Xaba, versatile athlete Kesa Molotsane and Olympian Dominique Scott-Efurd.
Six of the country's most promising young athletes have also been selected for the junior men's 8km contest, as well as for the junior women's 6km battle. The preliminary ASA team will undergo a fitness test at the NWU-Pukke sports fields in Potchefstroom, North West on March 2.
The final national team for the biennial IAAF World Cross Country Championships is expected to
be unveiled by March 11.
