Outies perform at SA Regional Level 2 Swimming Championships

GEORGE NEWS - Several talented swimmers from Outeniqua Primary School showed their mettle at the SA Regional Level 2 Age Group Swimming Championships, held from 6 to 8 March at the NA Smit 50 m swimming pool in Oudtshoorn.

The Level 2 Championships form part of the official competitive development pathway of South African swimming and bring together qualifying swimmers from across the region to compete at a high level.

The Outeniqua Primary team delivered strong performances, with several swimmers achieving personal best times, final appearances and podium finishes.

Rohan Botha was one of the standout performers, winning two gold medals (50 m butterfly and 50 m freestyle) as well as silver in the 100 m and 200 m freestyle. Bastiaan Botha won bronze in the 50 m freestyle, while Joshua Burrows secured a bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle.

Connor Simpson also performed well, earning bronze in both the 100 m and 200 m backstroke. The boys further teamed up to win silver in the Under-12 4x50 m freestyle relay.

Mikayla Botes won silver as part of the mixed 13–14 division (4x50 m) medley relay team, while Aninka Terblanche also secured silver in the women’s 15–16 division (4x50 m) freestyle relay. - Compiled by Michelle Pienaar
