SCHOOL NEWS - Parents and members of the public gathered at Gracehill College on Friday 29 May for the school's first-ever Gracehill ED Talk, a new monthly initiative designed to bridge the gap between home and classroom dynamics.
The event featured guest speaker Carla Bruwer, a local occupational therapist who delivered an informative presentation titled 'The sensory clues behind behaviour at home and school'.
The talk focused on how to explore the often overlooked role that sensory processing plays in children's behaviour.
Parents and educators were encouraged to look beyond the behaviour itself and consider what the child's nervous system may be experiencing, in so doing enabling more effective support at home and in the classroom.
The attendees actively participated, with many parents posing thought-provoking questions, while others shared their own stories.
The Gracehill ED Talks will be held monthly, free of charge, and will feature a line-up of experts tackling various youth and educational topics.
