GEORGE NEWS - Residents with an interest in finding long-term solutions to homelessness in the Garden Route are invited to attend the inaugural Homelessness Conversation - Garden Route on Monday 20 July.
The event is organised by Cremhog (Christian Rehabilitation Ministries to the Homeless in George), the Unit for Street Homelessness at the University of Pretoria and U-turn, a Cape Town-based organisation specialising in homelessness intervention programmes.
According to André Olivier of Cremhog, homelessness is an increasingly pressing issue across the Garden Route and meaningful, co-ordinated action is needed from communities, organisations and government to address it.
The conversation will provide a platform for experts, community leaders, non-profit organisations and interested members of the public to discuss the realities and challenges of homelessness, while exploring practical solutions and developing a way forward for future action.
Specialists from the University of Pretoria, U-turn and local organisations will share their experience and insights before opening the floor for discussion.
The meeting will take place from 13:30 to 16:30. The venue will be confirmed.
For more information or to confirm attendance, contact André Olivier on 082 551 8900 or send an email to [email protected]. RSVP soon, as seating is limited.
