Update
GEORGE NEWS - People whose household income ranges between R3 501 and R22 000 are invited to an affordable housing open day on Saturday 23 February.
The George Municipality, together with Western Cape Department of Human Settlements, the financial sector and developers, is hosting the open day at various venues across the city.
Visitors will learn more about accessing affordable housing options.
To avoid congestion, time slots are allocated per area. Residents are requested to attend in their area's listed time slot, where possible. Residents of areas not listed are invited to slot in at any session.
The time slots are:
- 09:00 - 10:30 Pacaltsdorp
- 10:30 - 12:00 Thembalethu
- 12:00 - 13:30 Blanco
- 13:30 - 15:00 Conville, Parkdene, Borcherds, Lawaaikamp
- 15:00 - 16:00 Rosemoor, Protea Park, Levallia
Venue
The venue is St Augustine Hall, Meade Street (next to the road entrance to Golden Harvest in town).
Options available
The following options will be available to households:
- Pre-screening for mortgage finance with a financial institution;
- Introduction to the Syferfontein catalytic project and discussion of affordable housing Flisp typologies and drawings; and
- Creating awareness of the initiation of the social rental housing programme within the municipality.
Documentation needed
The following documentation of both the primary and secondary applicant must be presented:
- copies of identity documents;
- 3 months' bank statements;
- salary slips; and
- income and expenditure form.
