Mrs N Mapetla, CEO of the EAAB handed out the awards.
The EAAB has introduced the new PDE examination which will have to be written by all new estate agents entering the industry, as well as estate agents who have not been in possession of a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate for a period of five years from 15 July 2003 until 15 July 2008. Those agents who qualified for exemption were handed the certificates of exemption.
All this has been brought about because of the new qualifications that have become compulsory for all estate agents.
Services SETA has brought in the NQF4 for Agents and NQF5 for Principals and they have until 31 December next year to be found competent or they will have to leave the industry.
The agents were addressed by both Mapetla and Mr Clive Ashpole of the EAAB. They stressed the importance of the new qualifications. Becoming an estate agent will now be a profession of choice.
"The public will in the future know that they are dealing with a professional when they do business with an estate agent," said Mapetla.
At the award ceremony were (from left) Hildegarde Olivier, a member of the Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) who received an exemption award, Nomonde Mapetla and Shaheed Peters from the Estate Agents’ Board, Segoale Mojapelo and Lindi Bekker, also a member of IEASA who received a certificate.
