New bail bid in Mark Lifman murder case postponed to January

GEORGE NEWS - A new bail application for the two men accused of murdering alleged underworld figure Mark Lifman has been postponed to 14 and 15 January.

The accused, Johan Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout, made a brief appearance in the Thembalethu Regional Court in George this morning, Wednesday 10 December.

They were arrested in November last year after Lifman was gunned down in the parking area of the Garden Route Mall. The pair were later apprehended in their alleged getaway vehicle near Uniondale.

During their previous court appearance, defence attorneys raised concerns that the men had been kept in solitary confinement for more than a year.

They also expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as ongoing delays and repeated postponements in the matter.

Their legal representatives requested a further postponement to allow them time to respond to affidavits submitted by the state.

The case will resume in mid-January.
