Yacoob was one of the speakers at a conference commemorating the 27th anniversary of former President FW De Klerk’s speech at the opening of Parliament in 1990 where he announced the un-banning of various liberation struggle groups.
De Klerk, the last apartheid-era president, focused on government's failure at closing the gap of inequality between the rich and the poor.
“The government is failing to close that gap to bring greater prosperity to an ever growing percentage of the population.”
De Klerk spoke about the need for the ANC to change the direction in which it’s taking the country.
Yacoob called on South Africans to abide by the Constitution. He says in this way, intervention by the courts will decrease considerably.
