Some universities have been pressing ahead with 2016 registrations amid protests.
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) leader Collen Maine says they’re aware of threats that students will disrupt the local government elections.
He says any attempt to boycott the elections will be counter-revolutionary and spearheaded by opposition parties.
“We are aware of the agendas. People want to use Fees Must Fall as launching pad for political parties. We will defend our democracy with everything that we have.”
