NATIONAL NEWS - A South African student stranded at the Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris has told Eyewitness News that speaking to authorities has not yielded any results.
More than 20 medical students from the country were en route to Cuba when they were told they couldn’t fly beyond the French capital due to harsh weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irma.
The students from the North West, Gauteng And KwaZulu-Natal have been sleeping at the airport since Sunday.
Student Phumuzile Thwala says: “We still don’t have accommodation and we’ve not been given any food. I had contacted authorities in South Africa to let them know what is going on and they told us we need to stay here and we must not come back home.”
