NATIONAL NEWS - Members of the Secunda Police’s Dog Unit arrested a man last evening, 2 November, at a warehouse in Barney Molokwane Street in Trichardt, Mpumalanga.
According to Col Nancy Ntuli, commander of the K9 Unit, Secunda Crime Intelligence informed the team about suspicious activities at the warehouse.
When the police arrived at the warehouse, they found 23 huge bags and 25 litres of loose sugar.
Col Ntuli said the weight is estimated at about 32 tons.
“The sugar is still loose and according to the information, they will sell it where it will further be packaged.
A case of contravention of the National Health Act 61 of 2003 and the Food Stuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfected Act 54 of 1972 is being investigated.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of selling illegal goods.
The other side of the warehouse looks as if it is being used for the manufacturing of furniture.
