Langamed South Services transported the man to Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt. Once stabilised the man was transported to a hospital in Alberton.
According to Mr Hennie Bekker, deputy chairman of Bethal Rural Safety, less than an hour later, three armed men attempted another armed robbery where they had stolen a cell phone and a silver VW Polo in the Bethal Rand vicinity.
The VW Polo was recovered at 2am on Thursday, 3 September by the Middelburg Flying Squad in Ogies.
The three armed men are still at large.
