NATIONAL NEWS - Several Gordon’s Bay residents are counting the costs after their homes were destroyed in wildfires.
The blaze gutted at least four houses.
Much of the area was also without power after two substations were damaged in the fire.
The N2 in the Sir Lowry’s Pass area and the R44 also had to be closed on Tuesday.
Animal Welfare Helderberg was evacuated before the property was destroyed.
Fire and Rescues' Theo Layne said: “There’s still an extensive area of mountain slopes that is burning, it has gone all the way to the R44 now and so far we have had four residential dwellings that have been damaged or destroyed.”
