NATIONAL NEWS - As of Wednesday, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 1 578 450, with 1 250 new cases recorded since the last report, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has announced.
The country has recorded 48 more Covid-19 related deaths: 11 from Eastern Cape, 4 from Free State, 4 from Gauteng, 1 from KwaZulu-Natal, 19 from North West, 5 from Northern Cape and 4 from Western Cape.
This brings the total number of deaths to 54, 285.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased patients,” said Mkhize.
The number of healthcare workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol is 298, 153, with 5, 530 vaccinated on Wednesday, when the programme resumed.
