Last week, two motorists were killed when the structure, along a pedestrian bridge on the M1 Highway at the Grayston Bridge, collapsed.
The bridge was intended to be a walkway between Alexandra and Sandton.
Officials reopened the highway last week after it was closed in both directions as construction workers cleared the rubble.
Five separate investigations into the incident are currently underway.
The City's Nthatisi Modingoane says, “We don’t want this matter to drag on. The project itself is a very critical project in the city’s programme. If we delay this process, it might hamper the delivery of the actual product.”
