GARDEN ROUTE BUSINESS NEWS - A group of local business women from the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) met on Friday 24 January where an 'Organic Connector' was launched in George.
This forms part of a re-structuring process of the council.
The aim is to establish an Organic Connector (a coffeeshop/restaurant) in every town across South Africa.
Business women of George and surrounding towns were invited to Unstairs @ Harry's for the local launch where the AHi provincial leader, Dr Willie Cilliers was also present.
Hester du Bruyn, regional leader of the Western Cape and past president of the council, said she is excited to engage with the business women of the province and she thanked Cilliers for his support. "Business women will have monthly meetings to embark on a programme to unite, empower, embrace and equip women to make an impact in their businesses and in the community."
She said the SACBW is a 31-year-old brand, which was originally established during the period when the world of work was mostly male dominated and women had to fight for their rightful place on the business stage.
"However, since the world of work is rapidly transforming, the council realised that it must also evolve. For this reason, the SACBW purposefully embarked on a process to reconnect with its true purpose and re-engineer its structure to ensure that it continuously adds tangible value to members in particular and female entrepreneurs in South Africa in general."
This process also led to the council's new slogan, which captures the main reason for its existence: 'Uniting all business women to lead the business evolution'.
Last year in April, the council embarked upon an Empowerment Roadshow and the event for the Western Cape took place at Pinnacle Point. The objective was to equip local business women with much-needed new tools, insights and knowledge to enable them to rise into the future of business. This event was a huge success and was repeated in Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
