UNIONDALE NEWS - Two men in their fifties were arrested for the possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R1,03 million yesterday, Thursday 11 January, near Uniondale.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, members of the Provincial Organised Crim Unit based in George spotted a suspicious looking Mitsubishi Colt-bakkie while conducting an intelligence driven operation on the R62 near Uniondale last night.
“At approximately 22:25 they saw the bakkie travelling towards George. The members pulled the bakkie over and searched it. A total of 740kg dagga, concealed in black bags, were found,” Pojie said.
The suspects, both from Port Elizabeth, appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court today, Friday 12 January, on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The case was transferred to the Uniondale Magistrate's Court.
