According to the woman, who does not want to be named in fear of her safety being compromised, the prisoners operate from inside prison and an order for food and beverages to the value of over R5, 000, was placed but when proof of payment was sent via email to her, the amount allegedly deposited was R10, 700.
“Shocked at the large amount deposited into my account after receiving a copy of the proof of payment via email, I queried it with the person who placed the order. He then told me that it was a construction company in Westville which he worked for who was placing the order and something must have gone amiss. He then asked me to transfer only R1, 000 of the money back to them via the Checkers Money Market transfer facility. I began to get very suspicious and enquired with everyone I knew about what to do,” the woman said.
