Essentially Volkswagen’s take on the Audi SQ7 TDI, the Touareg V8 TDI will be offered in two trim levels in Europe; Elegance and Atmosphere and feature the same range of equipment as the equivalent V6 TDI such as 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, Vienna leather upholstery, a selection of wood finishes, Night Vision, colour Heads-Up Display, four-corner air-suspension system, electric tailgate, four-wheel steering and the optional 15-inch Innovision Cockpit.
Substituting for the 3.0-litre TDI motor offered until now though, the V8’s oil-burner displaces 4.0-litres like that of the SQ7 and produces 310kW/900Nm send to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox. While top speed is limited to 250km/h, Volkswagen claims that the V8 will dispatch the 0-100km/h mark in 4.9 seconds, equaling that of the T-Roc R.
Set to arrive in Europe during May, the Touareg V8 TDI, at this point, remains an unknown entity for local market introduction.
