Posted on the automaker’s website, the range will be smaller than those in the United Kingdom and Australia, with all models being powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the C-HR that produces 85kW/185Nm. In entry-level XS guise, the motor comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or Toyota’s new 10-step Direct Shift CVT, while the top-range XR is solely outfitted with the latter.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.1-litres/100km across the range with the manual getting from 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds and topping out 200km/h, while the CVT will complete the benchmark sprint in 10.4 seconds and reach a V-max of 190km/h.
Measuring 4 375mm in overall length with a wheelbase of 2 640mm, height of 1 435mm and width of 1 790mm, the TNGA platform underpinned Corolla offers 503-litres of boot space with the rear seats up, and in a choice of six colours; Glacier White, Oxide Bronze, Caribbean Blue, Pearl White Metallic, Satin Silver Metallic and Scarlet Metallic.
On the equipment front, all models are equipped with a touchscreen infotainment incorporating Bluetooth, Aux and USB, a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, one-touch electric windows all around, 16-inch alloy wheels, colour coded bumpers and door mirrors, LED headlights, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, a colour TFT instrument cluster display, auto lock/unlock doors, cruise control, reverse camera, electric and heated mirrors, seven airbags, follow-me-home headlights, ABS with EBD, VSC and Hill Assist Control.
Building on the above, the XR further adds Blind Spot Monitoring, leather/suede upholstery with the front seats being heated, retractable heated and electric mirrors and two-way electric lumbar support for the driver’s chair.
A three year/100 000km warranty and 90 000km service plan over six services are standard on all models.
