Taken by tourist Patrick Kramer in the Portuguese capital with a second image later being posted by autoweek.nl, the leaked shots confirms the released teasers and shows the Kona adopting a radical new styling direction with a Jeep Cherokee-like split headlight design, extensive body cladding, Hyundai's corporate hexagonal grille and fog lights positioned inwards on both sides of the lower front air intake.
Expected to ride on the same platform as the i20, the Kona will likely use the same range of petrol and diesel engines, and even offer the option of all-wheel drive on higher spec models. While unconfirmed, reports suggest the Kona will make its official world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
