MOTORING NEWS AND VIDEO - The revered German manufacturer Porsche took top honours at the SA Guild of Motoring Journalists’ (SAGMJ) 33rd WesBank South African Car Of The Year (COTY) in Midrand on Tuesday night.
Panamera faced tough competition in this year’s 10-vehicle strong line-up, but two-thirds of the jury voted for it as the best overall. The Porsche Panamera was voted for as a worthy winner representing motoring excellence.
The Volvo S90 was first runner up and the Alfa Romeo Giulia second runner up. Both of these were beaten by a narrow margin. The SAGMJ has run the WesBank South African Car of the Year competition since 1986, with WesBank as its headline sponsor since inception.
The winner was announced after two days of intensive testing by the jury which included road and track driving, as well as an analysis of each car in tetms of cost of ownership, value for money, fuel efficiency and aesthetic appeal, among others.
