MOTORING NEWS - Toyota SA has confirmed that its new minibus and van Quantum will launch in the second quarter of the year.
It will now feature upgraded safety systems, a new engine, improved comfort and increased specification levels.
The Ses'Fikile minibus model will continue to be produced at Toyota's Prospecton plant in KwaZulu-Natal but Toyota SA tells us all new Quantum variants will be imported.
For the local market, the new Quantum will be available as a three-seater van in long- and super-long wheelbase configurations. There will also be a six-seater crew cab in long-wheelbase.
The bus range will comprise an 11-seater (long-wheelbase) and a 14-seater (super-long-wheelbase) version.
In terms of engines, there is a 2,8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine which is the same unit found in the Hilux bakkie and Fortuner SUV.
The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The new Toyota Quantum is set to launch in SA in the second quarter of 2019.
