With the expectation of the Skoda Karoq, Seat Arona and Citroën C3 Aircross, both the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Opel Crossland X and Volkswagen Polo are expected to arrive in South Africa next year, while Range Rover recently launched the Velar and Volkswagen yet to confirm its plan for the T-Roc.
Bettering the previous record held by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the incoming second generation Volvo XC60 officially rated as the safest vehicle tested this year so far, with a overall adult protection rating of 98%, 87% for children and 76% for pedestrians. With a score of 95%, it also took over from the S90/V90 in terms of safety assist systems.
"Of course, it is great to see the likes of Volvo producing cars that get almost-full marks in some areas of our tests, and it demonstrates why Euro NCAP has to keep adapting its requirements," EuroNCAP Secretary General, Michiel van Ratingen, said in a statement.
