The fastest and most powerful mainstream Ferrari ever to emerge from Maranello with only the LaFerrari being more potent, the 812 receives a slightly enlarged, by 234 cc, version of the F12's 6.5-litre V12, which now produces a mind-blowing 588 kW (that's 800 PS or 789 horsepower) and 718 N.m of torque.
Mated to a seven-speed dual clutch 'box, Ferrari claims the 812 will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under three seconds before topping out 340 km/h, this despite being 110 kg heavier than the haloed F12tdf.
Aside from also being the most powerful front engine Ferrari ever made, the 812 introduces electric power steering to the Prancing Horse for the first time, as well as a new four-wheel steering system derived from the F12tdf known as Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0.
Styling-wise, the 812 is claimed to have been inspired by the 365 GTB4 Daytona notably at the rear, while the long bonnet line betrays its F12 roots. Inside, the 812 features a heavily revised version of the F12's interior with new "floating elements", new sport seats, steering wheel and instrument clusters, as well as Ferrari's latest infotainment system.
Set to officially debut in Geneva next month, the 812 will retail for a smidge more than the F12, which is priced at £241 037 (R3 912 366) in the UK.
