Expected to arrive at the Kenyan port of Mombasa soon, the Moondust Silver 2.2 TDCi XLT 4x4 pictured will be the first South African made export model to arrive in Africa, where it will be transported to a local Ford dealer for collection.
"This is an exciting period for Ford Motor Company, as we're now seeing the fruits of the more than R2.5-billion investment programme emerge with the first locally assembled Ford Everest models coming off the line and being shipped to their new owners across the region," Ford Vice President of Middle East and Africa Operations, Ockert Berry, said in a statement.
"The Silverton Assembly Plant is now operating as a fully-fledged two-vehicle production facility, assembling both the Everest and the Ranger for the domestic and export markets".
Later this month, the second batch of Everests will leave the country for dealerships in Madagascar, Tanzania and Cameroon with other key markets to follow.
