GEORGE NEWS - George police have launched a manhunt following a business robbery in York Street earlier today, 24 March, in which a woman was shot several times.
The robbery took place at an entertainment establishment at 11:35.
According to Sgt. Chris Spies, the Southern Cape police spokesperson, preliminary investigation on scene reveals that two men entered the premises and pretended that they were clients. “The men, one armed with a firearm, gained entrance to the office where a woman was. They demanded access to the safe and gunshots went off. The woman sustained gunshot wounds to the body and the pair fled the scene thereafter,” said Spies.
Spies said the victim was transported to hospital for further medical care. The extent of her injuries and her condition are unknown at this stage.
The suspects are still at large.
George detectives urge the public to come forward with any information which could lead to the arrest of the robbers. Anyone with information may contact Warrant Officer Francois Kleyn at 044 803 4715.
