GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu-born Siphesande Rilityana (28) has thrown his hat into the ring to contest Mr South Africa 2020. He will be competing against men from all corners of the republic.
Rilityana, who is from Ramaphosa in Thembalethu, says he wants to fulfil his life-long dream of becoming South Africa's top model. He says his aim is not only to win the competition, but to bring about a change of mindset among his peers and those coming after him.
"I want to be an inspiration for people who are coming from townships, particularly small townships such as Thembalethu. [I want them to know] that if you believe in yourself you can achieve great things in life," says Rilityana.
He wants to be involved in helping people, especially the young, through various educational charities. Knowing that crime and substance abuse are among the biggest problems in his community, he intends to be an ambassador of hope for his community and help to end substance abuse.
The Mr South Africa competition aims to find the best brand ambassadors to serve South Africa as role models for younger generations, to create a symbol of hope, equality and diversity and to showcase the beauty of the nation.
