Update
GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Former Knysna municipal manager Dr Sitembele Vatala and current Garden Route Municipal Manager Monde Stratu appeared in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Friday 12 May.
The two are accused of failing to disclose seven municipal contingency assets to the Auditor General between April and December 2019 that were previously reflected on the 2012 and 2017 financial year audit reports of Knysna Municipality.
On 9 March, Vatala and Stratu made their initial court appearances on accusations of fraud, forgery and uttering.
They were granted bail of R15 000 each. The outcome of Friday's court appearance was that bail has been extended for both parties. The case is being transferred to the Regional Court and the court date was postponed to 25 July.
